Gustav Klimt was an Austrian artist known for his unique style of golden ornaments, symbols and decorative elements. His style is often described as Jugendstil or Art Nouveau, a movement that focused on decoration and ornamentation and was popular in the late 19th century. Klimt's works are often pictorial and sensual, with rich colours and a large amount of gold elements. He also often used myths and symbols in his works, such as female figures and patterns of flowers and birds. He also used a lot of gold leaf and made many mosaics.
This map of Amsterdam was inspired by the works of Gustav Klimt. And specifically his work 'Tree of life'. You can see the branches and roots of the tree in it. These have transformed themselves into the streets of Amsterdam. In addition, the characteristic patterns with good tiles can be seen in the street patterns.
