There are numerous pairs of lighthouses, so-called leading lights, along the Elbe. There is always a front light and a rear light. If you see the front (front) and rear (rear) front lights in a line from a ship, you are in the fairway and on the right track. The picture shows the rear light Somfletherwisch in Jork in the Alte Land. The tower is 35 m high and was put into service in 1907. The photo was taken from a small beach on the Elbe across the dyke.
