About ‘Hendrik van Vianden Street, Amersfoort’ by Aad Trompert

Hendrik van Viandenstraat in Amersfoort is known for its unique ensemble of neo-Renaissance style townhouses. Most of the houses date from the early 20th century, with construction years ranging from around 1900 to 1937. The street is named after Hendrik van Vianden, Bishop of Utrecht from 1250 to 1267, and offers a rare example of urban cohesion.

The buildings in this cityscape are of great cultural-historical and urban significance. During the First World War, a university was briefly located here. This street wall is composed of photo's of the most beautiful buildings along the street. There are trees in the street, as was originally the case.
