The Lüneburger Heide is the German version of the Dutch Posbank - but considerably more spacious and although popular, you don't stumble across other visitors there.
It is a varied landscape with strips of forest between expansive heathlands, with the pink heather forming a pretty palette among the many different shades of green.
A flock of sheep literally eats through this landscape, quietly watched by the shepherd, restlessly followed by a pair of enthusiastic dogs.
An image that has remained unchanged for as many as a hundred years.
