In the heart of Luang Prabang, a city steeped in craft and tradition, these handmade paper parasols lie together in a colourful collection. Their warm colours, red, orange, yellow and blue, catch the soft daylight and tell a story of craftsmanship passed down from generation to generation.
Each parasol is made with care from bamboo and paper, often painted or dyed with natural pigments. They symbolise not only protection from the sun, but also beauty and culture. This scene captures the rhythm of daily life in Laos: the quiet bustle of local markets, the smell of fresh fruit, the sound of running water in the distance.
An image that invites us to dwell on the simplicity of handicrafts, on colour as an expression of life, and on the harmony between people and their surroundings.
