About "Circle pattern with various shapes in soft shades"

by Lisette Rijkers

About the artwork

What you see here is a special circle pattern in the complementary colours orange and blue with different shapes in it. Different transparent shapes overlapping each other. It is a magical and enchanting circle. A circle that reminds you of a mandala pattern.
I find my inspiration when taking pictures in all kinds of ordinary objects around me. Everywhere you see different patterns, different colours, different shapes and different textures.
In my photo projects, I like to challenge this and enjoy connecting different of these elements.
So too in this circle with mandala pattern. In it, you can discover different shapes and different soft colours. The entire artwork also has a special structure that makes it look as if this mandala was drawn with chalk. But it isn't.
For this coloured abstract artwork, I took several photos of a metal object with holes. I set the end result in the two complementary colours orange and blue. This in soft tones so that the circle also gives you peace.
The pattern and shapes in this circle are not exactly symmetrical. For me, that is not important. Sometimes an imperfection actually emphasises the perfection of an image. Not everything is perfect in real life either, and this circle emphasises that fact. Therefore, as far as I am concerned, this circle also represents the circle of life.
