I found this beautiful blue jug with white dots in the studio of a Bruges potter more than 30 years ago. The jug is a favourite object in my home. You can combine it beautifully with peonies, for example, or, as in this case, with tulips.
The work is a combination of a painted background and loose torn elements ( the vase, table and flowers) that have been spontaneously and loosely arranged into this small still life. The scene symbolises the transition from winter to spring. The light falling on the flowers on the right side of the image. The work does well on all sizes and combines well with a sleek modern frame, but certainly also with a more classical version.
