October is peak time for the rutting fallow deer.
A true spectacle you can see and hear up close in various places around the country.
The rutting fallow deer sharpen their knives!
From August onwards, they sweep their fresh bark antlers along tree trunks and bushes. This is how they deposit their first scents.
Walking through the area then, you can actually hear them everywhere, even during the day.
Some call it roaring, others grunting.
The sound they make then is a bit in between.
The bucks fight out who is the strongest, which is accompanied by a lot of antler clattering and loud howling.
Photography is my biggest hobby/passion....
