The African marabou (Leptoptilos crumenifer) is a particularly large member of the stork family.
This stable bird has an almost bald, dirty pink head with a hanging crop, a large yellowish beak, black wings and tail and a greyish black and white body. Unlike other storks, they fly with their necks retracted. The naked neck pouch is filled with air and connected to the nasal cavity. They have a wingspan of about 2.60 meters. The body length is 120 to 150 cm and the weight 5 to 9 kg.
