The roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) is an even-toed mammal of the deer family (Cervidae). The scientific name of the species was published as Cervus capreolus by Carl Linnaeus in 1758. The species is mainly found in Europe. In Asia lives the related Siberian roe deer (Capreolus pygargus).
