About ‘A golden morning in the Tannheim Valley’ by Marcel Hechler

It was still early in the morning as I looked out over this meadow in the Tannheim Alps. The sun had only just risen behind the mountains — to the right, the striking peak of the Gimpel — and was casting its warm, golden light over the whole scene.

A thin morning mist still lay over the stalks. It drifted through the valley like a veil, leaving the mountains behind it to appear only as soft, tiered shadows. In the foreground, small wildflowers emerge from the haze, interspersed with a few faded dandelions that you only spot at a second glance.

What holds me in such moments is their stillness. No harsh contrasts, no garish colours — just this calm glow heralding the day. For me, there is something peaceful and yet fleeting about it, because I know the mist will have vanished in a few minutes.

This image brings precisely that sense of calm into a room. Hanging above a sofa, in the bedroom or in the hallway, the wide panorama creates a warm, relaxed atmosphere — a motif for anyone who likes to take a deep breath in the morning.
