About ‘Stuibenfall in the Ötztal Valley’ by Marcel Hechler

Whilst on a hike during my holiday in the Ötztal valley, I stood at the Stuibenfall near Umhausen — Tyrol’s highest waterfall. From the path, I looked up to where the water plunges over a steep rock face into the depths.

What captivated me was the fine mist: it rises from the base of the falls and settles like a light veil between the trees. Right in the middle, a tree glows in a warm golden yellow — it brings the sun into the picture and provides a striking contrast to the dark mountainside. In the foreground, the stream foams over moss-covered rocks, some marked with reddish-brown lichen.

For me, the image speaks of the power of nature — and at the same time of its tranquillity. Stand, look, listen. On the wall, it suits rooms where one wants to take a deep breath: a living room, a bedroom or a study with a longing for the mountains.
