Zermatt (Matterhorn, Gornergrat...)
The municipality of Zermatt lies at an altitude of 1620 meters at the end of the Mattertal in the western Swiss canton of Valais, which forms the border with neighboring Italy. Almost a third - namely 38 - of the 4000m peaks in the entire Alps gather around the region. The landmark is the Matterhorn (4478 m above sea level), it is probably the most photographed mountain in the world. Zermatt is also the start or end point of the world-famous Glacier Express, which travels to Davos and St. Moritz via Brig-Glis, Andermatt and Chur.
