900 years of Kamp Monastery - the Sanssouci of the Lower Rhine on canvas, poster, wallpaper and ArtFrame by Franz Walter

In 1123, Kamp Monastery was the first Cistercian monastery in Germany. The last monks moved out in 2001. The monastery is still a spiritual and cultural center. The terraced and baroque garden, which was created in the 18th century after the Thirty Years' War and is arranged in steps, similar to Sanssouci Park in Potsdam, is particularly impressive. That is why Kamp Monastery is also known as the Sanssouci of the Lower Rhine. The gardens are impressive. The sacred buildings are also worth seeing. In 2020, the Kamp Monastery, together with the current Kamp-Lintfort colliery park, was the core of the NRW State Horticultural Show in Kamp-Lintfort. A beautiful cycling and hiking trail leads from the monastery to the colliery park near the city center.
