About ‘shrimp and chilli, oil paint’ by Astridsart
Oil painting. The inspiration for this painting came when I went to make a variation of the Thai Tom Yam soup and had gotten fresh prawns from the fishmonger.
The prawns always turn a beautiful orange when you prepare them and this was a nice contrast to the green of the pak choi, coriander and lemongrass, and the red of the chilli…

"I get hungry when I look at your paintings" is a comment I often hear. My culinary scenes combine two of my passions: painting and cooking. I get inspired by the colors, smells and different textures of the ingredients that I photograph and then paint (and of course eat) them. I also paint portraits. I paint in a classical style with oil paint and more expressionist with acrylic, sometimes combined with mixed media techniques.
