The titel cannot be translated properly in English, but it refers to a once famous brand for margarine in the Netherlands where a girl in traditional Zeeland costume would sell this butter in TV spots. Zeeland is a province in the Netherlands.

My works arise intuitively, I start by looking for images and then, while shuffling, removing or recalling them, I start to make a whole. Sometimes this process takes quite a long time, sometimes it is quite fast. Some pictures are copied and resized after they have been updated, creating a rhythm, as can be seen in the butterfly wings that are placed both above her head and over her shoulders. The bottom part is a combination of a picture of a bare tree over which I digitally "painted" with blue and red. The outline is symmetrical in most of my works and this is done by copying parts of pictures and then pasting them back together.
Zeeland Girl is a work that would fit well in a quiet interior with not too much colour, so the work will stand out well. It is best to hang this work on a blank wall.
