The winter moth is a diurnal moth from the spanner family.
The male butterfly has a wingspan of between 40 and 44 millimeters. Females do not have wings. The large winter butterfly is found in large parts of Europe. The flight time is from the end of September to mid-February. Unlike most butterflies, they also fly in winter, even when there is snow.
