The ground in Yellowstone seems to glow. Orange hues fan out like a golden carpet, criss-crossed by strands of white. It is no ordinary landscape, but a painting of fire and minerals formed by the beating heart of the earth.
What to us is a still photograph is in reality in constant motion: water boiling, steam rising, and the earth gently breathing under its own skin. It is a place that recalls the primal force from which continents and mountains were born.
