In the heart of De Biesbosch National Park, I found these two water buffalo, grazing peacefully in the morning mist. The silence of that moment, broken only by the gentle rustle of the grass, felt almost timeless. The animals stood there with a calm dignity, as if completely absorbed in the rhythm of nature. Their dark coats gleamed in the soft light, while in the background the contours of the polder slowly awoke.
For me, this picture is an ode to the peace and strength of nature. Water buffalo are not only impressive animals but also indispensable stewards of the landscape - they help keep De Biesbosch open and alive. This image captures that balance: the robust presence of the animal and the tender stillness of its surroundings. A reminder of how beautiful it is when man and nature give each other space.
