About ‘Waiting by the sea, San Sebastián’ by Urban Archive

I took this photo on the beach at San Sebastián in March 2025, on La Concha Bay. Most of the image consists of sand and sky, with a small group of people at the water’s edge in the centre. Further out, surfers lie in the water, waiting for a wave.

What stands out is the composition of the image. The beach takes up the largest area, keeping the people small and preventing them from dominating the scene. The horizon is quite high, which reinforces the sense of distance. The sea is calm and flat, as is often the case in this sheltered bay.

Little is happening, and it is precisely that which defines the image. The people are standing still or moving slowly, without a clear focus. The colours are muted by the cloudy weather, keeping the whole scene calm and unobtrusive.

For me, this image is about distance and scale. The space is vast, the people are small and scattered. It is a simple and tranquil image that fits well in an interior where you wish to add a sense of openness and tranquillity.

What are the delivery times?

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
