This photo was taken towards West North-West from the high dune at post 3 on Terschelling. It gives a unique view of the Noordsvaarder nature reserve.
The North Sea here is notorious for its heavy surf and dangerous currents.
Many ships have run aground here including the gold ship "the Lutine".
The photo was taken in autumn after a rising fog.
The small dunes in the foreground are called embryonic dunes created by sand drifts during heavy storms.
Since 1990 I have been working as a Wadden photographer in the World Heritage Site "The Wadden Sea" with its beautiful islands and bright lights between the tidal movements of ebb and flow.
