The different stages in the flowering of a yellow tulip. On March 11, I saw a careful little tuft of yellow emerge from the green bud. Very soon after, the next day, the first few yellow petals unfold. Another day later, it starts to get cozy. Thus, day after day, this tulip unfolds into a full feast of bright yellow. Around which I swirl every day with my camera, like a photographer around her model.
My fascination with the rise and fall of tulips has lasted for decades now. Apparently I am not the only one, even Erwin Olaf has devoted a small project to it. But in "my" tulip group there are also many lovers of this genre.
For this image I made a choice from my series of photos of 'tulip yellow'. The whole I have edited with all kinds of digital possibilities. The image has brilliance, gives light, and has structure because of the strips in three colors that run across the work.
