Every year the countless ears of corn appear in the French fields surrounding our village of Chaugey. By now we know why the department is called Côte-d'Or (golden coast): in summer, the golden grain, driven by the wind, waves on the vast fields ;-)
In my image "French hilly landscape with farm" you can see something of that.
Those golden yellow waves hide something else. You have to get down on your knees, sometimes even on your stomach. It is at the edge of the field, or actually a little further than that. On your knees (or stomach) you are then so low that you look up against the woody stalks of the ears of corn. Between those stalks grow the most beautiful little flowers. The red poppy, the light blue forget-me-not, a delicate white flower, a few deep purple flowers (I am very bad at names, so I can't tell you what they are called).
What struck me were two combinations. One that of the hard woody vertical stems, it almost looks like bamboo, with the soft curves of the flowers. The other that of the sandy hues of the stems with the intense red, soft light blue, bright white and deep purple of the flowers. The green adds some freshness to the scene. The horizontal stem at the bottom of the image underscores the bouquet of flowers.
So I took the photo with my nose almost on the earth ;-) To delineate the edges of the objects a bit more, for a tighter "look," I digitally edited the photo.
