The crested Macaque, Sulawesi Macaque or Black Macaque (Macaca nigra) is a monkey species found only on the Indonesian island of Celebes. Although the animal is sometimes called black baboon or Celebesbian, it is not a baboon but a macaque The crested macaque has a completely black coat. On the head he has a stiff, hairy hood (the crest), which is put on when excited. The facial skin is also black. On either side of the nose there are two ridges, and also the eyebrow arches are striking. The crested macaque will be 52 to 57 centimeters long. The tail is very small, only 2.5 centimeters long. Males weigh on average 9.9 kilograms, females 5.5 kilograms.
