This atmospheric photograph shows a small lighthouse typical of the Lofoten Islands with its characteristic red roof, perched on a rocky coastal promontory.
These small Norwegian beacons help fishing boats find their way through the rugged rocky coastline. They are beautiful to look at as a photo motif, and as a large-format wall mural they create that special Nordic atmosphere!
This image was taken between snow showers during a storm, but it was still possible to create a certain calm and harmony in the image through a long exposure lasting several seconds.
The soft, light sandy beach and silky smooth water contrast with the dramatically cloudy sky. The long exposure times give the image a calm, almost painterly quality and create a fascinating balance between movement and stillness.
The motif is particularly appealing to lovers of Nordic landscapes, travellers, fans of minimalism or people with a longing for Scandinavia – or simply the sea. It is ideal for rooms where calm and clarity are desired – such as living rooms, doctors' surgeries, waiting rooms, but also holiday homes and hotel rooms.
The cool colour palette of grey, blue and beige tones brings a fresh, maritime atmosphere to any environment. At the same time, the bright red roof of the lighthouse provides a strong, focusing colour accent.
