Jambiani, Zanzibar. The population has to work hard for little money. Their income is growing seaweed. In the morning when it is low tide, they grow and harvest the seaweed that grows underwater during high tide. About 80 per cent are women who do the work. It is an important export product for Zanzibar. As a tourist, at first you wonder what those sticks are doing in the water, the occasional tourist gets hurt when they enter the sea at high tide and don't realise. But it is a special sight at low tide to see the rows of sticks of seaweed on the drying seabed.
