This photographic composition shows a serene and powerful coastal landscape on the beach of Ouddorp, located in the province of South Holland. At this location, the combination of beach, sea and sky forms a constantly changing backdrop, in which nature sets its own pace and dynamics. Central to this sculpture is the characteristic breakwater: a field of large stones and rocks, partly covered with green algae, which becomes fully visible at low tide. The breakwater, once built to protect the coast from erosion and the force of the waves, is now a particularly photogenic element and gives the scene both structure and depth. The soft light and muted colours create a soothing atmosphere. The cloudy sky stretches wide above the horizon and subtly reflects in the still water left between the stones. The ridges in the wet sand tell the story of the retreating sea, while the scattered rocks give the image a natural, almost timeless look. This picture captures the distinctive character of the Dutch coast: tough, open, rugged and yet surprisingly vulnerable. For lovers of landscape, coastal and nature photography, this work offers a piece of authentic North Sea experience for the home or office. The combination of the robust structures of the breakwater and the soft, almost minimalist horizon makes the image suitable for a variety of interior styles, from modern minimalism to warm rural spaces. It is an invitation to pause for a moment, seek the tranquillity of the coast and experience the power of nature.
Photography has been my passion since 1975. Whereas in the past I often photographed people, I now mainly focus on photographing landscapes, nature and animals.
