The Semois is a right tributary of the Meuse.
The river rises in Belgian Lorraine and the border crossing, it culminates on French territory in the Meuse. In Belgium it flows for the most part by the province of Luxembourg, the rest in the extreme southeast of Namur. It thus forms the southern border of the Ardennes.
