The photo shows the imposing Pilsum lighthouse on the dyke in East Frisia. The lighthouse towers majestically into the sky and radiates a special fascination with its characteristic red and yellow colour. In the foreground, the lighthouse is reflected in one of the region's numerous drainage channels.
The Pilsum lighthouse has a long and interesting history. It was built in 1889 and originally served as a navigational aid for shipping in the North Sea. With a height of 11 metres, it is comparatively small, but nevertheless an important landmark in the region.
The Pilsum lighthouse became particularly well known through its appearances in film and television. In the 1990s, it became the location for the popular German film "Otto - Der Außerfriesische", in which comedian Otto Waalkes played the leading role. Since then, the lighthouse has had a large fan base and attracts numerous visitors every year.
The photo captures the special atmosphere of the Pilsum lighthouse, which stands proud and resilient. It symbolises the maritime beauty of East Frisia and is a popular motif for photographers and tourists.

My pictures are taken on trips, day hikes or right in front of my door...
