The sun cast its golden rays over the babbling brook as I walked quietly along the bank. Suddenly, a blue flash flashed by, landing on a branch that towered above the water. It was a kingfisher, its feathers shining like jewels in the sunlight. We looked at each other for a moment, a moment of shared serenity.
Suddenly the kingfisher dove into the water like a bolt of lightning, a split second later it reappeared, a glistening fish dangling in its beak. Instead of flying to its nest, it deftly climbed back to the branch. There, bathed in the warm sunlight, he enjoyed his freshly caught meal. It was a mesmerising display of natural grace, a moment when time seemed to stand still and the world was momentarily perfect.
