The Hoge Berg on Texel is a unique Dutch landscape. The mountain was formed in the penultimate ice age when the northern half of the Netherlands was covered with ice. The glaciers pushed the ground ahead of them like a bulldozer and formed hills, including the Hoge Berg on Texel. The typical tuunwallen, earthen walls separating the various plots of land, give the Hoge Berg an extra special touch.
When I visit Texel, for me that includes a visit to the Hoge Berg. And the camera usually gets very little rest then. So too when I took this photo. We stepped off the bike for a moment, and I was immediately struck by the beautiful depth effect that the garden walls give to the landscape. The white tower of Den Hoorn's little church is just visible in the background.
