The Egg Dance, Pieter Aertsen, 1552
In this brothel a young man does an egg dance to the music of the bagpipe player. As he dances, he has to roll an egg into a chalk circle - without breaking it - and cover it with a wooden bowl. This 'senseless' entertainment, together with the debauched behaviour of the other characters, is a moral admonition against immoral behaviour.
