That pier of IJmuiden in sunset
IJmuiden pier with at the end of the winter day. The seagulls are gone. I made the double exposure with the idea that the seagull belongs to the pier. The harbour beacon the clouds the lanes on the pier. The photo is full of guiding lines to the horizon. The sand left on the pier after a stormy period.
With my work as a street photographer, I show the rough, unpolished sides of city life. With my photographs, I try to capture the beauty of everyday moments. The viewer can then invent his or her own story to go with it. I also have a fondness for industrial environments, such as harbour sites and factory buildings, where traces of the industrial past are still present. In doing so, I try to photograph subtle details, using both digital and analogue cameras.
