This photo shows the sun setting on Zantvoort beach. The loose sand that half-mixes with the sea reflects the light and warmth of the setting sun, and in the distance you can vaguely see the ships sailing past on the horizon.
The inspiration for this work was a special day where family was visiting and we went to watch the sunset together at Zantvoort after a pleasant day at the beach. The warmth, togetherness, the adventure of the moment, the beautiful light all came together in this photo. While standing with my feet in the loose sand on a hot summer day, I took this photo. I also try to convey this warm summer feeling to the viewer of this photo.
The emotion that goes with this photo is therefore warmth, light, groundedness, being one with the sea, the sky, but also your loved ones with whom you look at the horizon together.
In a living room, this photo looks great (I have it on the wall myself) and colours beautifully with a white wall and, for example, anthracite sofa. The red colour makes it warm where it would otherwise be cold and gives a summer feeling and almost seems to radiate energy.
