Some scenes start off quietly, and then the sky decides to make a statement. This was one of those mornings where everything felt still—until I looked up. The clouds were thick and brooding, stacked in layers that seemed to hover just above the horizon, but there were streaks of warm light breaking through, cutting across the cold blue.
What pulled everything together was the reflection on the water. The golden glow didn’t just light up the clouds; it gave the rippling lake a kind of softness that balanced out the drama overhead. I composed this low to include the silhouettes of the reeds, hoping they'd ground the scene and add a sense of place without cluttering it.
I remember not being able to look away. The way the dark and light played across each other felt almost cinematic—like the beginning of a story, not the end. I waited for the sun to shift just enough to catch that sliver of light on the edge of the clouds, and then took the shot.
