? What do you see in this work?
In the narrow alleys of Piss Alley, Shinjuku, hidden among the neon lights and lanterns, we see a chef in action. Steam rises from the cooker, filling the air with aromas and immersing the scene in a mysterious, almost cinematic atmosphere. The soft light plays through the vapour, emphasising the intensity of this moment: a master at work in Tokyo's vibrant izakaya culture.

? My inspiration for this work
Piss Alley, or Omoide Yokocho, is a place full of history and character. Between the small eateries and the smell of grilled yakitori, there is an atmosphere unique to Tokyo. This image is an ode to the authenticity of street kitchens, where flavours and traditions merge in an ambience you won't find anywhere else.

? The atmosphere I try to set
The combination of light and steam creates a mystical, intimate atmosphere. This image exudes nostalgia, warmth and the pure craft of cooking. The contrast between shadow and glow makes the scene almost timeless, like stepping right into a Japanese film.

? Special technique
Using low lighting and natural street light gives the image a cinematic and atmospheric feel. The steam acts as a natural diffuser, subtly diffusing the light and enhancing the depth in the image.
