Flowers are always an inspiration for taking beautiful photos of them. There are so many different flowers, different in shape and different in colour. Each flower is different in size and has a different pattern on the petal.
I often take creative and artistic flower photos by mixing the photo of the flower with a photo of a particular texture or pattern.
The flower in this photo is a chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum). A chrysanthemum is a particularly beautiful flower. It is beautiful to see how all the petals are folded open from the centre of the flower: this creates a particularly beautiful round pattern of petals where the petals appear to be in a spiral shape inside the flower.
This spiral shape inspired me to photograph and multiply the flower from above. I put all these chrysanthemum flowers in the shape of a spiral where the flowers overlap each other and also have a nice shadow edge in the process.
To further highlight the round pattern, shapes and textures in this photo, I converted it to black and white. This also created a nice contrast between dark and light in the photo: the shadows near the petals are extra emphasised by this.
A busy image perhaps, but powerful because of the multitude of round spiral shapes and because of the contrasts in structures, patterns, light and dark.
I see making art as a creative process.
The starting point of this process for me is always a photo or a painting of my own. Every work of art on this site is therefore based on a self-made photo or painting.
I find my sources of inspiration in everything around me...
