Here we see one of the Red Cuilin, the softer and more rolling hills next to the jagged Black Cuilin, on Isle of Skye, Scotland. These lower, less rocky hills are composed mainly of granite. But because of the clouds floating by in the photo, which appear to come from the top of the hill, this hill looks like a smoking volcano. That is what makes this photo so special.
Thanks to the almost clear blue sky and the rising sun, the colours of the hill draw in extra sharp. And like icing sugar on a brownie, the snow-covered summit sticks out nicely in the super blue sky.
This photo gives peace of mind. The barely visible deserted road in the foreground, going nowhere, gives a desolate feeling. And the feeling of having nowhere to go. The clouds do not form alarming plumes of smoke, but give a lovely sign of life. Like a gentle caress upon awakening. This picture could therefore also look beautiful on a bedroom wall.
