Single Sunflower is a pastel painting in portrait format painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. It shows a beautiful blossom of a sunflower in yellow and orange. The blossom looks to the right and is framed by sepals and leaves in different shades of green. The background is abstractly painted in shades of blue, purple and grey, allowing the bright yellow flower to stand out and take centre stage. This painting is part of my series of sunflower paintings. Fascinated by the beauty of the beautiful bright yellow sunflowers that bloomed in the summer gardens and sunflower fields around me, I decided to challenge myself and paint a series of sunflower paintings in many different techniques, experimenting with different mediums such as watercolour, pastels, acrylics, oil pastels, pencil, ink and charcoal and trying different papers and styles. This was great fun. You can find more of them in my album Flowers, more pictures will be added all the time. It's best to keep checking back. 204
