A hushed image of marram grass in the dunes. The patterns in the sand together with the pristine nature of the elements almost make it feel like it was made. I was on my way to the beach in Katwijk. At the beach entrance, this piece of dune caught my attention. Especially the patterns in the sand and how they run around the marram grass gave me a Japanese-garden association. From the path, I set up my tripod, decided on the composition and waited for a moment when there was little wind and the sun poked through the clouds just a little bit stronger. The even light filtered through the clouds adds a nice atmosphere to the photo, while the lack of contrast adds to the calm atmosphere of the picture. The simplicity and artlessness of nature remains an inspiration that I like to capture in my photos. This is how you bring a little piece of that tranquillity of nature into your home.
