I find the Ostend seafront a hugely photogenic place. Not only because of the people you meet there, but also because of the light. On the Belgian coast you have a different light than inland. Because of the presence of the water surface and the beach, a reflection occurs that you don't have elsewhere, which seems to make the light there different. Sometimes it looks a bit like the Dutch light you encounter in the old Dutch masters.
This photo was taken during a lockdown in December 2021. It was on a stormy day, with the wind blowing hard. Sometimes it rained, and sometimes the sun broke through. Like at this moment.
I loved the backlighting! I stood here with my camera out in the cold for about ten minutes. My intention was to create a silhouette with a long shadow, and I succeeded. Especially nice is the way the light shines on the hair of the person with umbrella in hand. There is more to this photo. I invite you to discover it!
