I'll tell you a secret: I don't particularly like autumn and winter. To ease the suffering, you can often find me in the Mediterranean during those seasons. Like at the time I took this photo.
In January 2022, I stayed in Marseilles for a few days to enjoy the beautiful weather. In fact, the sun is most likely to shine there: a Marseillais sees it as many as 300 days a year. Also, the Mediterranean is almost always green, especially in the Calanques, a complex of creeks reminiscent of Greece, but closer to home.
I took this photo on a sunny day when the mistral, a local wind, was blowing tremendously hard. I had to hold on to a tree to keep from falling over while taking the photo.
I was triggered by the azure tones of the sea, by the rocks and by the greenery. See how many different shades of blue you can find in that place?
And it may have been January, there were people swimming here too! Of course, we respect people's privacy and they did not appear in the picture.
