Shih Tzu in Botanical Elegance – Boho Dog Portrait by Angelique van den Berg

Bring warmth, tranquillity and a touch of natural mystique into your home with this refined animal portrait of a characterful Shih Tzu. Captured in a moment of pure serenity, the dog gazes straight into the viewer with loyal, dark eyes. The dog lies comfortably on a finely woven wicker base that immediately evokes a sense of texture and craftsmanship.

Behind the Shih Tzu unfolds a lush, symmetrical bouquet of botanical elements. Beautiful soft roses, ranunculus and subtle dried flowers alternate with eucalyptus leaves, swaying pampas grass and finely detailed ferns. Above the dog’s head floats a subtle, gold-coloured astronomical symbol of a crescent moon and stars, lending the work a dreamy, almost magical depth. Boho-Chic & Scandinavian influences The colour scheme is fully in tune with the contemporary Bohemian trend. A warm, muted palette of sand and cream tones, powder pink, terracotta, sage green and soft earth tones has been chosen. This creates a soothing and organic look that blends perfectly with natural materials in the home.

The technique behind this work is extremely detailed. The dog’s coat is built up with delicate, soft strokes, making the texture appear tangibly soft. The veins in the leaves and the texture of the woven mat have also been rendered with the utmost precision and attention to detail. This square artwork is an absolute asset to spaces where tranquillity and warmth are key. It fits perfectly into a modern or rustic interior where wood, linen, rattan and houseplants feature prominently. The living room or bedroom as a calming focal point above the sofa or bed.
