On an early walk through the Biesbosch, this Scottish Highlander was grazing peacefully in the mist. No rush, no fuss - just at ease among the tall grass. There was a silence you could almost hear, just the soft crackle of its breath in the cold. I wanted to capture that moment: the calm, strength and character of this animal.
The dark background emphasises its shape and the warm tones of its fur. He doesn't look into the camera, but past you - as if he has his own world, separate from ours. This is what makes him so impressive to me: a silent force, full of dignity.
I made this image without embellishment or fuss, just as he stood there, in the heart of the Biesbosch. An encounter that reminds you of how pure and calm nature can be. This picture is exceptionally beautiful on any wall.
