About "Sacred Colour 2- Dahlia Offering Thailand"

by Tessa Jol Photography

About the artwork

I photographed these colourful dahlias during my trip through Thailand. In the beautiful temple city of Ayutthaya, Thailand's ancient capital, you can visit many beautiful and ancient temples by bicycle. The flowers were in a vase on an offering table and coloured beautifully with the incense on the offering trays.

The Dahlia flower is a work of art in itself, each flower is unique and there are 1000s of varieties. Charged with powerful symbolism and spiritual significance, the Dahlia is seen as a symbol of dignity and elegance and given as a sign of commitment and eternal love. The different colours of Dahlias each carry their unique symbolism. For instance, pink Dahlias symbolise tenderness and femininity. A yellow dahlia represents joy, happiness and optimism.

Sacred Colour 2 is part of a diptych: Sacred Colour 1 & 2, also for sale as a single picture.
