About ‘Red deer in the Veluwe 2’ by Ton Beerens

Rutting season The bellowing – it remains a magnificent sound to hear every year during the red deer’s rutting season. “A mighty sound that can be heard from a great distance as the autumn nights grow colder,” says Han ten Seldam, a forest ranger at Planken Wambuis. “Sometimes I can hear it as early as August, but the second half of September is the peak. During this time, the stags are almost constantly engaged in fighting each other to gain dominance over the ‘doe deer’ (the hinds). We call this period the peak rutting season.” Peak rutting season

“The males then stand there, stinking and steaming, bellowing. Before they engage in battle, they douse themselves with their own urine in their wallow (muddy patch). With those strong body odours and fierce bellowing, they mark out their territory. Intrusive rivals hear that they must be wary. Intruders who come too close are attacked. It can take hours before the winner is known. The prize is a herd of does. The does are ‘ 'beslagen' ’ by the winner.”

At Art Heroes we do not mass produce or keep stock, but make to order. Your artwork is made with passion by experienced craftsmen and is on average ready for shipment in 7 business days. Details on the exact delivery date will be sent after placement of the order. Depending on the shipping country the following delivery times apply:

Is your order a gift for someone? We can create you a gift voucher that displays the artwork(s) you ordered, so you have something to give while the artwork is being printed. Just send us an e-mail and we’ll take care of it.

How will the package be sent?

We work with several carriers, mainly UPS and DHL (Depending on the country where it is delivered, this may vary). Couriers can also be used for large or fragile packages.

Canvas are securely packed in plastic bubble wrap and cardboard. Wallpaper and posters are sent in sturdy tubes.

A courier collects the package from us and takes the package to a depot where it usually stays overnight. The day after it is collected and delivered to your home or office. We work with courier services that specialise in handling fragile parcels.

Not at home? Then the delivery driver will leave a note and an appointment can be made to schedule a new delivery.

Unfortunately, there remains a chance that something can happen during a shipment. In the unlikely event that your parcel has been damaged during transit, please take a picture of the entire item, the damage, the entire package and a picture of the shipping label. Send these photos to us by email and we will solve the problem without delay.
