Jan Anthonisz van Ravesteyn, Portrait of Ernestine Yolande (1594-1663), princess of Ligne, after 1618 This painting comes from the family of Johan Maurits, the one for whom the Mauritshuis was built. The portrait reads who the lady is: Ernestina, femme de conte Jan de Nassau - wife of Count John of Nassau. This Jan was a half-brother of Johan Maurits van Nassau-Siegen and - to the dismay of the rest of the Protestant family - was openly Catholic. Jan van Ravesteyn painted Ernestina in full regalia, with in her hair a precious ornament of pearls and orange blossom.
