I took this photo of a pheasant in the Polder Arkemheen near Nijkerk in the Netherlands. This pheasant was walking across the grass looking for food. Really shy, this pheasant was not really shy either, probably used to people cycling along the nearby dike. Given the coloured head, I think it is a male. As you can see it was nice and sunny when I took this picture which allowed me to take it out of hand, I tried to use as low a viewpoint as possible so that this picture was at eye level of the pheasant. It was also spring when I took this photo.
