In 2017 we had a lovely lunch on the terrace of The Cattle Baron at Skukuza Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park in South Africa. Among the regular guests are the Cape Glossy Starlings. They look very much like the Burchell's Starling, but they have a striking yellow/orange eye. The wings are simply dark/blackish, but the hollow melanin grains in the feathers create a rainbow effect when sunlight shines on them. A cocky, curious, but beautiful bird.
