The picture shows a densely planted field of flowers with a large number of flowering pansies (Viola ×wittrockiana). The inspiration for this work was the variety and expressiveness of the pansies in a public flower bed. I was particularly interested in how the individual flowers stand out from each other through subtle differences in colour and shape despite their similarity - a visual interplay between repetition and variation.
With this picture, I wanted to create an atmosphere that is both structured and lively at the same time. It is about the beauty in the ordinary, about the strength that comes from diversity and balance. The message lies in the appreciation of the interplay - of colour, form and natural order.
